Women who choose to lead a childfree life often hear "You'll change your mind" or "You'll regret it".
But the research says otherwise — as did many of you, when we asked for your experiences on deciding not to have kids.

'We've played a small part in protecting the natural world'
I am very pleased my husband and I chose not to reproduce.
In the 1960s we became aware of the need for zero population growth, then through the 1970s as the world changed, I saw so much environmental degradation, I did not want to contribute to that in any way.
In the 1980s, climate change became a factor.
Now I am glad we did not subject any offspring to the increasing climate chaos and wildlife extinctions impact that humans will have to endure, let alone the societal degradation that is occurring and will worsen.
When asked about grandchildren by acquaintances, the conversation does stop when I say we have none, and will never have any.
I am comfortable with that, knowing we have done a small part in protecting the natural world.
