No, it's real. I live in the Boston area (about two hours away from where the Jerry Springer-fest took place), and it's all over the local news.

I've been to Springfield, MA. There's nice stuff there, such as the Dr. Seuss sculpture park. But a lot of it is rather skeevy. Welfare rabbits abound.
