I know there are people loyal to Obama and I can respect that. But his welfare programs worry me very much. Give me your thoughts.

I'm just glad that the President doesn't wield nearly as much power as the media would lead us to believe.

He talks a good talk but I'm skeptical that he's actually naive enough to think his ideas should be implemented (or that he even could). He said what he needed to say to get elected and in that way he's a consummate politician.

I predict that it will go mostly like this: Anything that goes well in the next four years will be the direct result of the Mighty Obama. Clear weather on a picnic? Obama did it.

Anything that goes poorly in the next four years will be G.W. Bush's fault. The media (if not Obama himself) will wring hands and lament how hard it is to overcome the damage done by Bush.

Of course the reverse is true of Republican Presidents. Anything good that happens during their administrations is a result of residual effect from the prior Democrat President, and anything bad that happens is the Republican's fault.

So while I'm mildly optimistic that he won't be able to destroy 200 years of US Government in 4 (or worse, 8) let's just say I'm not doing any long-term investing for awhile.

That this man was actually elected is the most frightening thing I have ever witnessed happening in this country and frankly, I'm scared shitless. He is supremely corrupt and severely underqualified. And with a Democratic Congress, I believe he can and will be able to go farther towards ruining us than any President ever has.

We all shall see. The real division nowadays seems to be liberal/conservative.
Say what y'want: I tend to think the old traditional ways were best. They seem to increase the odds of survival.

annie, you really seem scared of obama. I am distrustful of the guy: too many muslim nations seem to like him and were rooting for him. (enemy of my enemy is my friend... and vice versa..)

I do not see where this guy is going to get 850 bill from and cut taxes. The class of the 'wealthy' will grow long indeed.
I would wonder how election results would change if anyone on govt assistance (at the moo level, not folk on soc soc old age pittance) were not allowed to vote.

CERTIFIED HOSEHEAD!!!

people (especially women) do not give ONE DAMN about what they inflict on children and I defy anyone to prove me wrong

Dysfunctional relationships almost always have a child. The more dysfunctional, the more children.

The selfish wants of adults outweigh the needs of the child.

Some mistakes cannot be fixed, but some mistakes can be 'fixed'.

People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one. Leo J. Burke

Adoption agencies have strict criteria (usually). Breeders, whose combined IQ's would barely hit triple digits, have none.

I did not vote for this man. All I can say is that he had better do the job he "claims" to be able to do and not fuck up my financial world. The whole muslim thing worries me and the fact that he wants to be "spreadin' dat wealth."

If not, maybe there's a relative of James Earl Ray who can take care of things for us.

After all, I have a dream too, and it's NOT to be supporting welfare scum while my days of retirement become nothing but a fantasy.

I really am. I feel like the U.S. has been teetering on the brink of disaster for a while now, and this might push us right over the edge. We will become a bonafide socialist republic; healthcare will be abysmal, the economy will collapse entirely, and we will become powerless to protect ourselves from any outside threats...

I am no longer loyal to any political party in this country. I am tired of the lip service and promises made only to those who have not worked for it.
I am tired of the posturing and one sided media. I am tired of the hype about Obama. I am tired of it all. I want to see a fair system enacted, where you get what you give. I am disappointed that neither political party can reach a win-win on any issue. I think they are all a bunch of whiners, who want to kick and scream like children and name call, when things do not go their way.

I think it's interesting how many of the people who are pro-Obama are the same ones who know very little about government (as a concept) and history.

Wealth redistribution has never, in the history of the world, actually worked. It's been tried many times, most recently under the banners of "socialism" and "communism" and if we've learned a single truth from all of this it's that the people who tout it as the cure for inequity are never including themselves amongst those who's wealth should be redistributed.

These plans always create a ruling or elite class who always are exempt from the "take from the haves to give to the have-nots" philosophy. It's simply the amount of people in the lower class that changes. It increases.

So since misery loves company the poor have more company.

Neither side is currently on the right path as I see it, but the conservatives are less gung-ho about fucking things up. Personally, I'd rather see fewer things fixed and fewer new things broken than watch a crapload of stuff get fixed and broken (or simply fixed until it's more broken).

Sure, we need change. But we need more than just generic, unspecified change. When your car breaks down you can "fix" it by getting a new car, or you can exercise some intelligence, figure out what's actually wrong, and then fix the damn fuel pump.

But "change" for change's sake will always appeal to more people than it frightens simply because they're addicted to the idea that someone, somewhere has got it better than they do and that the other person doesn't deserve it while they themselves do. They're addicted to the "grass is greener" mentality and are always looking for that one, magical change that will turn everything around. "If only" I were 5 lbs thinner, or "If only" I were blonde, or "If only" some other little thing were different....

I am delighted to see that majority of readers here are aware of our political situation and many understand that no party can take us in the right direction at this time. They are there to protect their own interests. I lost interest in both of our parties long time ago. I think that they both offer protection to special interest groups and offer no support to the average taxpayer.

I have never believed that government can actually give somebody something. If they ever did, they will take 10 times of what they gave. I would rather try to earn it myself. It is very true that every attempt to redistribute wealth creates more poor and leaves less of the middle class. Eastern Europe is a historical proof of that.

One of my attempted contributions was that I have always voted for a third party. They never did win, but I think that if enough people do not vote for the two failures we have now, maybe they will get the message.

As I am neither a weapons expert nor a sniper, it's all beyond my control. So, I'm glad that George Bush and Dick Cheney are not our presidents. And I'm glad that I did not have to hear Sarah Palin's stupid voice on Tuesday.

There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. All politicians knew it. Bush wanted oil, dems were just as careless, they wanted to look like they did something for "national security". It was all window dressing. Dems should have never allowed Iraq war.

Sara Palin has costed Old Cane his election. Media did not help either.

Well duh.
I'm not saying it's all sunshine, rainbows, ponies and free heroin. Politicians, as a whole, are genuine back stabbing lying assholes from hell who make our daily existance a living nightmare of idiocy. I'm just trying to be a happy ray of light to make your life better, think positive maaaan. Cause it's like the 60's all over and the youth are going to change everything and we'll ride a strawberrry bubble up to cunnilingus town....whooooo!

Understatement of the year. I've never been more disappointed in the American media and its so-called "objectivity" in my life.

My first and foremost concern, and my first loyalty are to the childfree, period, end of story. We get stuck with all the bills. We get no gvt benefits, except for unemployment (which the breeders get as well), we are last served when it comes to charity, and have no tax break for "keepin' it green" and not producing more consumers. We get the shit end of everything. It's legal to discriminate against us in every walk of life, easy for employers to get rid of us because they think the preggo "needs the job more" and all other kinds of bullshit. We are the last group that is acceptable to discriminate against. It's not even cool to discriminate against atheists anymore... anyone hear obomber mention "unbelievers" in his inaguration speech? He is the first president to acknowledge unbelievers, ever. No mention of the childfree though.

I'm looking for a prez that is going to treat everyone equally. if obomber is up to that job, then he'll be a good prez in my mind. if not, then he goes on the trash heap with all the other idiot breeders. either take away all the shit the breeders get, or start sharing it with the rather large cf minority, we are becoming more and more everyday people! there are more of us all the time.
