Pastor's Abortion Dream Inflames Bushfire Tragedy

The Catch the Fire Ministries has tried to blame the bushfires disaster on laws decriminalising abortion in Victoria.

The Pentecostal church's leader, Pastor Danny Nalliah, claimed he had a dream about raging fires on October 21 last year and that he woke with "a flash from the Spirit of God: that His conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb".

The former Treasurer, Peter Costello, who sent a video message to an Australia Day prayer meeting organised by Pastor Nalliah this year, was outraged by his remarks on the fires.

"To link the death and suffering of bushfire victims to other political events is appalling, heartless and wrong,'' said Mr Costello, who has lost a Christian friend in the fires.

"Those who have suffered deserve ever support and sympathy. It is beyond the bounds of decency to try to make moral or politcal points out of such a tragedy.''

Pastor Nalliah said he was helping to co-ordinate fire relief, including providing trucks to distribute clothes and food and giving his own blood, but he said he must tell "the truth".

Asked by the Herald if he did not believe most Australians would regard his remarks as being in appallingly bad taste, he said today: "I must tell people what they need to hear, not what they want to hear."

He said it was no use "molly-coddling" Australians.

Asked if he believed in a God who would take vengeance by killing so many people indiscriminately - even those who opposed abortion, Mr Nalliah referred to 2 Chronicles 7:14 to vouch for his assertion that God could withdraw his protection from a nation.

"The Bible is very clear," he said. "If you walk out of God's protection and turn your back on Him, you are an open target for the devil to destroy."

In the New King James version of the Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14 states that: "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

He quoted a headline describing the fires as "The Darkest hour for Victoria". "A few months ago the news media should have reported `the darkest hour for the unborn', but unfortunately the `Decriminalisation of Abortion bill' went through parliament and was passed, thus making many people call Victoria `the baby killing state of Australia,' " Mr Nalliah said.

Pastor Nalliah said there may be criticism. But he said he did not send out his media statement thoughtlessly. "We spend two days working on it."

He had previously said drought and the world financial crisis could be partly blamed on human sin.

How fucking DISGUSTING and thoughtless. How DARE he compare the deaths of 180 PEOPLE to a bunch of aborted fucking CELLS. This cunt needs to get the fuck out of my country with his religious bullshit - it has no place in Australia . :sbx angry flipping offranting

My immediate thought was that he had something to do with the fires. I don't know much about them and although it sounds like an act of nature, if ANY arson is suspected then I hope that he has been considered as a suspect. His taking The Bible out of context and warping scripture to suit his OWN needs or opinions is as common as cotton candy at the fair. When a security guard, who also left several kyds fatherless, was killed during a bombing of a Birmingham abortion clinic I was APPALLED at some of the religious nut rhetoric that was spewed. Some said he shouldn't have been working for the clinic because by working for them he was condoning abortion, so therefore his death was due to his sinful association with the "death mill". Technically, he worked for a security company (NOT the clinic) and just happened to draw the short straw that day for working OUTSIDE of the clinic. Ironically, if it wasn't for PROTESTERS he wouldn't have HAD a fucking security detail at the clinic on the day that he was killed in the first place. Others said that they thought that he was an innocent victim, BUT that unfortunately innocent people had to die in order to bring the pro-choicers to their senses.angry smiley

This man's "vision" and logic are complete and utter bullshit, thoughtless, uncaring, cruel, and an outright lie. For people to claim that OTHERS (it's never them or THEIR famblees) are being punished for some abstract "sin" that the state or community is supposedly bringing upon themselves is preposterous. It sounds a lot like that fucked up Rev. Phelps and his "godhatesfags" website ran by his Westboro Baptist church bunch. They believe that ENTIRE STATES are being punished when a natural disaster happens if they have recently upheld gay rights-marriage-civil unions, abortion, or any number of other things that he doesn't like. He thinks that the woman who was mauled to death in her apartment hallway by the vicious dogs was directly caused by God himself as punishment because she was a lesbian.angry smiley They also protest at soldiers' funerals and bring untold extra grief to the families with their picket signs exclaiming that soldiers/military are fags because the military lets them serve or of being war mongers or baybe killers because they serve their countries. I seriously have a problem with preachers blaming innocent people for the alleged wrath of God brought about by someone else's alleged sin, or even by an actual or perceived "sin" of their own. ranting

THESE are the people who make me have a sour view of religious fanatical types. I would like to ask this bastard. "So why did your mother get cancer then? What horrible sin did she commit to deserve all of that suffering and subsequent death? Come on, we KNOW she did something or it wouldn't have happened" or......"So, what sin (s) did your 15 y/o son commit to have drowned at the famblee picnic in '97? Was he wanking off, diddling little boys, looking at porn? Was he judged due to the sins of his father perhaps? Exactly WHAT SIN did your little bastard commit????" Only I don't think it's my place to openly judge others, assign guilt or punishment, and CERTAINLY not to cause additional pain to grieving people whoever they may be or because of whatever my personal opinion is of their recent personal or family loss or devastation.angry smiley
