Bumper Sticker Pissed Me Off
May 19, 2006
This morning walking into work, our illustrious cleaning crew left the large garbage can out in the main hallway (where it does not belong).

On it, was a bumper sticker that read "MARRIAGE = MAN + WOMAN" Totally pissed me the fuck off for the day. I ripped it off and threw it right in with the rest of the garbage.

And guess what was written at the bottom of the sticker? "The 700 Club" OF COURSE!!!!!!!

What pisses me off more is that 1. who's to say what a marriage is? and 2. that some son of a bitch would have the stones to put it on a garbage can that is NOT theirs in a public place for all to see. Once again, jamming their thoughts and beliefs down our throats.

And who might this be? The same fundie x-tian breeders with 5 kids, can barely pay their bills and want to make the rules for everyone else. And after having seen our cleaning crew, well, use your imagination..........
I also hate it when everybody assumes that if you are married you have to have kids! I have been in other Latin countries for my job and the first things they ask 1) Are you married 2) Do you have any kids? This is on business trips! This is a norm in many Latin countries to ask off the bat! Anyway, yesterday DH went to the gas station to get a deli sandwitch. This older Chinese lady always makes my DH sandwitch and always asks for me and she asked when are we going to have a baby. DH was honest and said that we do not have any plans. This lady asks why? So DH explained that we like to travel, freedom, etc. She responds by saying that it is so sad that we don't want babies! Sad - MY ASS. I guess people think is more important to be broke, have no freedom, sacrifice and have a latching kid then enjoy life by traveling, having freedom, having more extra cash, etc! Buy NOOOOOO. This damn world always has to revolve on babies!

I am as straight as they come...happily married to a man and have never experimented in the other direction. But I support gay marriage. I live in Massachusetts, where gay marriage is legal (for now). I see all this crap on TV about our fundie Mormon governor (who is making a run for the presidency in 2008) blathering on about how marriage is a man and a woman, and I ask myself, "How is this (the gay marriage issue) hurting HIM personally? How is this hurting ANY hetero married people?"

Maybe Mitt Romney's religion says that homosexuality is wrong. If that's what he believes, that's his right. But it annoys me that the fundies of the world can't accept the fact that different people have different beliefs. And churches in Massachusetts do have the right to refuse to perform same-sex weddings...just because it is legal does not mean they are forced to do it. There still are plenty of officiants who WILL perform these ceremonies, so a gay couple can just go to one of them. Hell, I'm sort of considering getting licensed as a Justice of the Peace, just so I can marry same sex couples!

Part of the reason that the United States exists is because the colonists were getting tired of the King of England dictating their religious beliefs. This is why *separation of Church & State* was written into our Constitution. Now, with all of the fundie assholes we have running (or should I say RUINING) things now (most notably Duh-bya), we've gone back to that.

A big HELLO to catmommy9's last paragraph. This religious suffocation HAS to stop. The fundies are climbing all sorts of ladders and getting into positions where they can make and support a variety of fucked-up rules. This is not a lead, follow, or get out of the way country. Everyone is NOT headed in the same direction. They need to realize that. Can you imagine a mormon president? The mere thought of it sends my irritable bowel syndrome into a big flare up.

I have a lot of gay friends and I can only imagine the insult and hurt they must feel seeing shit like that bumper sticker. I'm not even gay and it pisses me off to no end. If I lived in Massachusetts, I too, would love to become a JP to perform same sex marriages. Doing my part to piss off the religious right!!!!!
I, too, support gay marriage. It pisses me off that these stupid fundies never seem to get in any trouble for their anti-gay, anti-abortion, pro religion stickers and crap in the workplace, but if one of us would have any item that veered toward the left we would be asked to remove it.

Ahhhh,KFLL, a mormon president!!!! I don't think there would be enough room in the White House for all of their wives and kids. I guess it would make all of the inbred people in the country happy though!

Some wing-nut whose car I sometimes see outside of the library has one of those stickers. One of these days I will wait and ask them nicely why are they so threated by gays? I will do it too. I missed them by a few minutes one day.

Sherz, polygamy is no longer *officially* accepted by the Mormons. Although this still exists, most of them, including Mitt Romney, just have one wife. Not sure how many kids he has, though.

But he still pisses me off. When he was forst running for governor here, he said that he would not do anything to interfere with a woman's right to choose. At first I found this refreshing...I knew that abortion was against his religion, but I thought that he was choosing not to inflict his beliefs upon everyone else.

Well, when old Mitt decided he wanted to run for president, things sure changed. In addition to spouting off against the gay marriage thing in MA, he came out as being vehemently anti-choice (I refuse to call them *pro-life*). I guess he's trying to kiss the ass of Duh-bya and all of the religious nutjobs who voted for him. I guess that being a fundie is the only way to get the Republican nomination these days.

I'm glad is is not running for governor again. Lt. Governor Kerry Healy is the only Republican in the race; she claims to be pro-choice (not sure about her stance on gay marriage, though, will have to look into that). And right now, we have three Democrats and an independent running. Any of them HAS to be better than fundie-assed Mitt!

But I fear for this country if he gets elected president. Why can't he just go back to Utah and be a happy mormon there?

Anyone else want to rub their Canadian passport on their maple leaf tattoo?

Mmm...minority government restictions.

Who wants to come to Canada? The beer's drinkable, you can say "fuck" but not "God bless" on TV, and women are people!

I wish we could move everyone who isn't an asshole to Canada and then hope the United States just sinks into the ocean, only to resurface a while later with all the idiots washed off.

I'm straight, but I totally support gay marriage (I'm a yaoi addict, so it's kind of a given that I support homosexuality). Why the hell are some people so offended by it? Are homosexuals any less of human beings because of their sexual orientation? I actually read something on a forum from a guy who said he found out his best friend of 13 years was gay and was going to quit being friends with him just because of his sexuality. I fucking hate how people say that America is "freedom", yet there are retards shoving their almighty religion down everyone's throats and more retards bashing people who aren't heterosexual. There might be certain freedoms, but there are stupid people who will try to tell you that beliefs differing from theirs are wrong.

The Canada offer sounds great - maybe I can convince my boyfriend to move there with me someday. And it's much closer to where I live than is Britain.

Yep, Canada definintely has the U.S beat all to hell in a lot of ways. I keep hoping that we can look to the North for better examples and benefit, but the right wing fundies and dubya's gang still have too much of a strong hold on the thinking of the American sheeple.

I lived in a Marine town for years. One day in my favorite bar this hottie I was talking to said to me " See all those guys in the corner?"
Me"Yes."
Him" They all hate me."
Me "Why?"
Him"Cause my best friend(who lived in the same barrack room as him)just told me he's gay and I refuse to give up our friendship."

I cannot remember what I said, but I thought he was wonderful for being real. All my friends at that time (both men and women) were all Marines and either gay or friends with the gays. My roomie Greg told me of a hot Marine who experimented with him. I think people who are so threated by homosexuality are afraid because they have had strong homosexual leanings.

Lady Cooper: I love Canada!! Canadian men are fucking hot!! I have to go up to Northern Ont. every 3 months for work and the Canandian guards are always 1. Better looking. 2. Way more laid back.Cambion: Wonderful idea!! If only it could happen.sad smiley

And gay marriage is fully legal!

And pot is moderately decriminalized (if you're walking down the street puffing or have less than a gram on you, the cops don't care).

And yes, Canadian guys are pretty yummy.

The only real discrimination comes from where you live, regional differences are a huge thing. I'm moving out to Halifax in the fall, and I tell people there that I'm from Calgary, so they all think I'm some oil-money douche, then I tell them I was born in Toronto, and they think I'm a self-centred oil-money douche. (But then I tell them that I work for the Liberals in Calgary, and then they're just confused).

Oh, do NOT move to Calgary, it's booming and there are kids and preggos everywhere.

Lady Cooper you will sortof be close to where I live, which is south of Prescott, Ont. Do you know that when Dubya won the last election, the Canadian Immigration Website recorded a record number of hits!?
I told my mom I'm moving there, and she said 1. You're an American. 2.They don't want our problems. sad smiley Gosh darn it, I still want a straping Canadian sex-slave though!! smiling smiley

Well, to be honest, there is some discrimination against Americans, but only in the "oh...you're a Yank? oh...." way to your face, but we try to keep anti-Americanism behind American's backs. So be prepared to deal with some America-bashing, but once they find out you're a Yank, people will be nicer and keep it quiet. Unless you wear a Team USA hockey jersey, then we reserve the right to hiss at you on the street or throw bottles of liquor at you.

Catmommy9, Mitt has five boys.

Here's more information about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_Romney

The government has no business to dictate what a marriage is. It pisses me off more that CF people like myself who work and pay taxes must pay a higher percentage in taxes to fund the breeders and all the resources they use. If I had my way, we would pay the same percentage in taxes. There would be no subsidy for breeders: if you breed, you're responsible for all the expenses. That means no welfare handouts, too.

I also want a medical insurance policy that does not cover brat expenses. It pisses me off that I must contribute to IVF, repugnancy, well moomie and brat care and all of the other bullshit.

Where, oh where, I ask you?!?

OK, I'll give you Vancouver and Toronto - especially the West Coast. Jaw-droppingly gorgeous men there. But a lot of them are gay, so that doesn't do us any good.

But do NOT come to Montreal, I implore you! Seems to me like it's the International Capital of Hideous Losers. Seriously. If it weren't so cheap to live here, I would move.

Halifax has the yummy guys. And people discredit Newfs, but there are some damn fine true Newfoundlander boys (not just Mercer either!).

And yes, it is always a bit harder finding straight ones here. But you can still look.

Or give a quick pat on the bum. (Sorry, Rick. Can I come back into the CBC now?)

India, our political spectrum is very small and shifted to the left. We're a semi-socialist country. People can jump between Liberal, Conservative, and NDP pretty easily. With exceptions to a few extremely right politicians that would fit into the Republicans, even our Conservatives (big and small C) are pretty left-wing in comparison to the States.
