That white trash-soap opera baby name connection goes back many, many years. I can remember when the nom-du-jour was either Nicole or Stephanie, and all of the new DPW (Department of Public Welfare) brats were all Nicole or Stephanie, Nicolas or Stephen. Then came Brandy, Tiffany, and so on and on. Now I see Brie, so we're on to types of cheese. Funny how I don't see many Limbergers, Gruyeres or Queso Blancos--yet.
For those of you who know who the Misanthropic Bitch is, she had a hilarious post on her site about berating her aunt for naming her kids Rylee and Brie, who were nicknamed Brie and Ry. Misanthropic Bitch asked how her aunt could name her kids after bread and cheese, and came out with even a more sinister possibility. Read her posts if you get a chance.
