This comic strip has irked me for years, the past two days are really pissing me off. http://www.fbofw.com/strip_fix/ God forbid we have a little peace and quiet at home. Have kids, then turn them loose on the neighborhood.

A sign of the times, huh?

That seems to be the mainstream breeders' attitude. It doesn't matter who they annoy, or infringe upon- it's all about them. What pisses me off more than anything is how society panders to this entitlement bullshit. If a person has something in their yard that's deemed inappropriate, they're asked to remove it. If a breeder does it, it's family- friendly, and an asset to the community. Damn, do I get sick of the double- standard!

But at the end when the girl says it wouldn't be fair to the animals, doesn't that mean the authour agrees with the annoyed neighbors?

My ex-SAHMmoo neighbor (thank god) bitched all the time about the people across the yard from her whose kids constantly jumped on their trampoline. She said she's sick of looking out her kitchen window and seeing them constantly jumping.

So what does she do? She gets her brat a trampoline for her birthday, and now her kids are on it day in-day out- right outside her kitchen window. Go figure.

Every time I see a breeder looking into a mirror, I just want to say, "See...you're looking at your own worst enemy!" They would never get it.

I really used to like that strip until they started with the breeder shit. Talk about jumping the shark.

Of course the neighbor is protrayed as a fat slob with a beer and a cigerette, enemy of the people.

I also loved the strip before it became so breederific. Liz is going back home. We all know that she will reconnect with Anthony who plays the "victim role" after his wife left and told him to keep the kid.

The wife of this man is looked at as the Devil Incarnate for preferring her career over that bay-beigh and regarding her resentment over allowing herself to be coerced to breed.

It just really ticks me off how a childfree woman is viewed as a narcissistic career b*tch and, of course, the family man is viewed as a saint. Never mind that most career women with families tend to do all of the dirt work when she gets home while King Daddy acts like he is a big deal if he watches the nasty toddlers so Mom can take a bath in peace!

Of course, the Liz character is a moron. She has a good guy, the cop, who really loves her but she will ditch him to play Moo to her old high school chap. It also irks me that the neighbour is viewed as a nasty person for not wanting a loud child in a kiddie pool outside of his window. The childfree/childless/empty nesters are always looked upon as hateful people.

I hear the member about the trampoline right by her window. God! My mom and stepdad sold their house and moved to a quieter neighbourhood in 2000 when their street became more breederific with sprogs screaming in the front yards for all to see and hear.

I know...it is only a comic strip. I woke up too early today. Give me more coffee so I live in reality...

I really only read Dilbert, a non-breederific comic strip.

Does anyone else here hate the comic strip "Cathy"?
How many times can they do the whole shopping for swimsuits thing?

How long until Irving gets smacked with Cathy's baby rabies?

I can't stand Cathy! She definitely contributes to an old, tired stereotype about women being obsessed with shopping, body image, and snagging that maayyuun.

The "Cathy" comic strip used to be funny to me, but now, eh, not so much. Cathy needs an intervention or something. LOL

FWIW, my brother looks JUST LIKE the father from Family Circus. It's realllly creepy.
Re: FBoFW

Cathy is another comic I hate -- all about trying to snag that man and buy swimsuits. The strip makes it seem that all women care nothing about nothing but shopping and romance. I also do not like the Family Circus. They are a bunch of "family values" religious right-wingers. Mommy stays at home while Daddy works. Sunday is Church Day.

This is my favorite strip.
Milkman Dan loves to torment the kids.

Great cartoons: Herman, The Far Side, and the very much missed Calvin and Hobbies. sad smiley

I hate all the fucking parenting-related comics, be it FBoFW or Baby Blues. Give me Garfield and The Lockhorns any day.

Don't let me drag this into a major tangent, but I have a question for Sharon J. about her signature. If childcare is so fulfilling, why do daycares even exist? smiling smiley

My favorite strips were all in the old National Lampoons.

The Appletons
The Timbertoes
Zippy the Pinhead

Don't even get me started on a tangent about how awful animated cartoons are today. No wonder kids are doing drugs...there's nothing good left to watch on saturday morning!

A "holla" to NotQuiteSure: Zippy the Pinhead was one of my faves, too!

My DH and I used to watch Garfield every Saturday, and Ren and Stimpy on Sundays. Good times...

Today's cartoons do suck. They took looney toons (starring good ol' bugs bunny) off the air here in the states due to 'too much violence.' Blech. Whatever. I'd say the breeders must not like anything that is truely good.

Before my APW friend became an APW, she was, and still is, an AFF (Annoying Fundie Freak).

The first time I saw nip/tuck, I was on the phone with her. I was astounded by what I was watching! Soft Porn! On CABLE! With a plot! I was just flabbergasted. I tell her what I'm watching and she's all "Oh, what about the chillldren....what if they see that.....that shouldn't be on TV...."

I replied "It's cable, 10 pm, and it's noones job but the parents' to make sure a child is not subjected. If a kid is watching it, then the rents ain't watching the kid. Not my problem. She still went on and on and on....

A week later, she stops over and I happen to have the TV on, watching a nip/tuck rerun. She watched five minutes of it and was HOOKED! Her and her DH ended up netflix'ing the first two seasons. She doesn't pull that "what about the children" crap with me anymore. I should babysit her kid someday and let it watch "Wondershowzen" with us.
Re: FBoFW

ALL children MUST watch Wondershowzen...
Most adults should as well.

I'm a little late on this one, but I hate that comic. In my paper it runs right below Get Fuzzy (one of my favorites) and it's such a disappointment to look down after seeing Bucky Katt's latest scheme to the inevitable breeder inspired garbage of FBoFW.
