They get cash. They use it to buy beer, cigarettes and lottery tickets.
I might not have a problem with it either if everyone received help equally.

@welfare: it's a good system for those who receive the benefits and those who sell products and services to welfare recipients. It is a system that always has money. Unlike Social Security that is always under threat of being insolvent, welfare always has money.
I often hear a statement: welfare helps the economy. So I followed the money and looked at who makes such statements: Major retailers. But of course. Welfare checks are spent on food and other necessities. Retailers love it. So they lobby for welfare increase.

The bill would expand the child tax credit that currently allows families to claim up to a $2,000 credit for children under 17 years of age. If approved, the plan would extend the benefit to lower-income families who otherwise wouldn't receive the credit. Families could claim up to $3,600 per year for a child under 6 and up to $3,000 per year for those between the ages of 6 and 17.
The plan also removes a provision that you have to make $2,500 a year to receive the credit and makes the credits fully refundable. In addition, it would expand tax credits for one year to help cover the cost of childcare. Families could get back as a tax credit as much as half their spending on childcare for children under age 13, up to $4,000 for a single child and $8,000 for two or more children.

Translation: pay nothing in, get money out.
The people who are paying in are taking it up the ass.
I am seriously thinking of buying land, going off the grid, and stockpiling weapons because the Government is on the way to failure and breakdown. It's going to be every person for himself/herself in the next few years.

I used to consider myself a liberal, but the more handouts are given to breeders the less liberal I feel. FFS, no government should be in the business of encouraging more births! Especially considering the Earth is on the brink of environmental disaster (already happening in some places)--why the hell should having more children be a good thing? Oh, that's right, my child will save the planet with some great new idea/gadget, etc. We CF are already screwed tax-wise.

There are extra benefits for federal workers within the $1.9 trillion emergency aid package designed to aid in the nation’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, primarily being that it offers extra paid time off as long as the federal employees’ child isn’t back to in-classroom, full-time instruction.
With the bill as it stands, a full-time worker can acquire up to 600 hours in paid leave, with which the person will be paid up to $35 an hour and $1,400 a week. This means a federal employee can get up to $21,000. A part-time employee or an employee with a seasonal work schedule will both also be eligible for the paid leave according to equivalent hours established by the applicable agency.

Most of the people getting the freebie Bennys from the government are using those tax credit dollars on fucking tattoos, liquor, cigarettes, and possibly even meth.
At least where I live, and yeah, it's a red state.

I wonder how many housing complexes will end up being owned by government because the landlords went out of business or gave up.

A large swath of American households may pay nothing in income taxes for 2021, a new congressional report suggests.
Taxpayers with income of less than $75,000 are projected to have, on average, no tax liability after deductions and credits when they file their 2021 returns next spring. They will also will get money back from the IRS, according to recent estimates from the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation...
The main drivers for nonpayers are the [earned income tax credit] for lower earners and the child tax credit for families with children after accounting for the standard deduction
As for details of the credits: The child tax credit is enhanced for 2021 in several ways, including by raising the per-child payment to $3,000 from $2,000 for families with income below certain thresholds (phase-outs begin at $75,000 for singles, $112,500 for heads of household and $150,000 for married couples), with an extra $600 for children under age 6. Children age 17 also qualify for the first time.

I don't think there is a way to vote "bad" candidates out. Unless flat tax was the law of the land, this is never going to get any better for CF people. I don't care if it was Trump or if it was Warren or Bernie: sticking it to CF is how it is done around here.

The "fair" solution would make these people BEAR THE BRUNT OF THEIR OWN CHOICES so they don't have kids they cannot afford. It's not picking everyone else's wallets to pay for it.

Just when I was thinking that it could not get any better for breeders, more news are coming out. USA is the best country in the world: for those who breed. Before the right blames the left and before the left blames the right, I must mention one important fact: both sides are responsible for breeder pleasing.

At this point, if they proposed a law to tax CF at $10,000 per month, it would pass as long as the wording included: "It is for the children"
Currently, a single CF person making $75000 per year is paying $9562 in federal taxes per year. If we add Social Security (7.65%) and average state tax of 2.63%, they are paying $15,300 per year. Breeders are basically getting a check for 15 grand.

Spouse and myself are well paid DINKS. It took us a long time to get to this level of salary and experience. What with Trump's extreme SALT limits and now Biden's pandering to breeders, we are paying easily $10k month in taxes, if you add up Fed, state, Soc Sec., Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment, property tax, etc...

As for stimulus checks, somebody I know at Neiman Marcus told me that when the first round of checks was given out, Neiman's was packed full of people buying expensive sneakers. Not food, not rent, not necessities, but expensive sneakers. An acquaintance I know who has been unemployed for nearly 2 years complained on Facebook that paying $15 for a manicure was too expensive, the salon owners should lower the price to $12 because people are unemployed.
