I just know that there was a time where if one could afford a nice car, clothes, food and bills, they wouldn't even consider going to a charity organization to get free crap for your kid(s). Instead, you would pay for it yourself, and leave the charity for the people who actually need it.

It's starting to look to me that many "responsible" breeders would much rather just spend their money on...whatever...AND also use charities for the necessities. Not cool in my book and will eventually probably destroy the charity system because well...why the hell would I donate anything to people who are just taking free stuff they could otherwise afford if they just made some small adjustments to what they purchased the rest of the year....LIKE ADULTS USED TO DO.

Now, I think we all understand that there are impoverished people, and that those people do actually need help, but really, middle class folks with decent cars, puffy winter coats and...HOMES...they do not need charity, they need to grow up

It is like the SCHIP plan. "Responsible" breeders do not want to pay the extra premiums at work to have their DNA samples insured so they expect government to do it via selective socialism. The State of Florida already does that with Healthy Kids. A childfree person has to be really indigent to qualify for Medicaid. I am too proud. I would rather go without than to get aid. It does not matter that I am fearing some health conditions that hit my paternal grandfather.

I've been trying to find a computer desk in the "FREE" section for well over 3 months. Almost every other day, I'll see one, but before I can even respond... IT'S GONE!!!! I think that there are people out there SITTING, WAITING, IN A TRUCK, READY TO GO, AS SOON AS ONE APPEARS ON CL! They probably have some second hand store somewhere! GEEEEEEZ! Let a single mom have ONE, just ONE already! I can pickup! I'm just broke.. lost my job.

The word "NEED" - it's just over used and used improperly in most cases.

You NEED something like a heart transplant. You DESIRE something like a computer desk. Fuckwads.

Greedy breeders think by making their situations sound so dire by using words like FOR THE CHILDREN, NEED and URGENT, etc., that they are going to have mercy shown on them by some kind soul who will send them a $1M gift card to Macy's.

I also love how the gimmes and gift grabs always want NEW, UN-USED, UNWRAPPED things for these parasites. Sorry, beggars can't be choosers and if you don't like it, stop breeding, go get a job and provide for yourself. Otherwise, be happy with the handouts and shut your holes.

The only charity I am supporting this Shitmas is the drive to help stock the libraries at an elementary and high school in my area. The UPS Store where I get my mail has the box out. I dropped off a new book already and will pick up some more from the Books-A-Million bargain table so I can give more. I am all for kids reading. Donating for libraries is a good thing in my mind...

If you like people and learning, I think donating to libraries is a great idea. They're one of the few entities that provides it's services to all people, regardless of age, encourage widespread and free access to knowledge (and fun), and are generally terribly underfunded.

I put an add on CL last winter wanting to donate 40 boxes of fabric (from my deceased MIL) to a worthy charity- which is what my MIL wanted. I also stated I wanted some place that could take all, half or a large amount with a truck, since it was sitting in my garage for awhile. I even added that it was older stuff, more for blankets & sweaters & crafts.

Of the 50+ emails I got, one in particular was from some moo stating that she was a "charity" b/c she has 3 kids & there are 9 kids total living at her house between her & her sisters & they make their own clothing. She wanted me to allow her to come pick through all 40 boxes, taking up my time, all for free.

I'm all for making your own shit, but I was so pissed at this one. I emailed her back & reiterated that I'm looking for a charity foundation (which I found plenty) as my MIL's wish.

She flames me back saying she IS a charity & I MUST save her some boxes b/c well I have 40! She was so fucking insistant! And then she says to let her know when she can come over! I deleted her email, but WTF??? Why did I even have to spell it out?

I ended up donating 1/3 to an animal shelter for bedding, 1/3 to a nursing home for crafts & 1/3 to a group that makes blankets & care packages for the troops.

I willingly donate to charities for animals, veterans and seniors. Brats and their inept handlers get way too much of what I earn through forced tax deductions.

Keep working more hours, CF people! Millions of breeders depend on us.

One of the ladies at the animal shelter used some to make little "pants" and suspenders for a certain dog breed (they looked like pugs?) that gets a certain genetic disease resulting in loss of control of their hind quarters, so they need "diapers". She made them in all different colors & styles & they were so friggin' cute!

No, She wasn't developmentally challenged, but by the way she wrote I got the feeling she was maybe Filipino, or Oriental, but with not too much English.

I'm so glad it went to people who actually needed it rather than to some parasite who made a mess of it's life and now expects handouts.

SO and I just sent donations to the animal shelters around here and I have a box of stuff to take to the one I got our one dog from. It breaks my heart to see all those homeless animals.

Who the deuce needs a "new" computer desk/table? You want to know what my computer desk is? A cheap wooden door on two two-drawer file cabinets! Works well for me.

Since summer of last year, until my stepfather passed away last month, I took care of him and Mom at home full-time and still must take care of Mom. How much financial and other help do you suppose I get? Ha ha. You know the answer. Now, if I were a breeder with numerous sprogs, how much do you suppose I'd get then from the taxpayers and the suckers responding to these demands on CL?
